About This Event

On the auspicious occasion of वसंत पंचमी, the Centre of Excellence, School of Law, Gujarat University organized “वीणा वादिनी वंदना” on 20th January 2026 at 10:00 AM with the objective of invoking the divine blessings of Goddess Saraswati, the deity of knowledge, wisdom, and arts, and to inspire students towards academic excellence and cultural values.

The programme was conducted under the able guidance of Dr. Bhavesh Bharad, Coordinator, Centre of Excellence, and was graced by the presence of the Chief Guest, Dr. Urmi Satyan, Head of the Department, School of Law, Pandit Deendayal Energy University, whose presence added dignity and academic significance to the event.

The event commenced with the ceremonial lighting of the lamp, symbolizing the victory of knowledge over ignorance, followed by prayers to Goddess Saraswati, creating a spiritually uplifting atmosphere. Dr. Bhavesh Bharad Sir formally welcomed and felicitated the Chief Guest with a bouquet and diary as a token of appreciation and also explained the spiritual and cultural importance of Saraswati Pooja on Vasant Panchami, especially for students and teachers.

Devotional performances were offered by Ms. Shyamli Barot (Semester 4) and Mr. Manav Panchal (Semester 2) through prayer songs dedicated to Maa Saraswati. This was followed by a graceful classical dance performance by Ms. Jiya Akhani (Semester 2) as a cultural tribute to the Goddess of learning and arts, which was warmly appreciated by the audience.

Thereafter, a Saraswati Aarti was performed in which the Chief Guest, Coordinator, faculty members, and students participated together, seeking blessings for wisdom, moral values, and academic success.

Following the Aarti, the Chief Guest, Dr. Urmi Satyan Ma’am, addressed the gathering and shared her valuable insights. She explained the deeper meaning of the Saraswati Vandana, especially the shloka “या कुन्देन्दु तुषारहार धवला,” and elaborated on why Maa Saraswati is worshipped as the supreme symbol of art and knowledge. She also explained the symbolism of the white lotus and white attire, representing purity, clarity of thought, and spiritual enlightenment. Her address was highly informative and motivating for the students.

The programme concluded with a Vote of Thanks proposed by Dr. Shivangee Patel, Faculty, Centre of Excellence, who expressed sincere gratitude to the Chief Guest for her valuable time, to the Coordinator for his guidance and constant support, to all faculty members, Cultural Affairs Committee members, and student performers for their dedication and efforts in making the event successful.

The celebration of Veena Vadini Vandana was spiritually enriching and culturally meaningful, reinforcing the importance of knowledge, humility, discipline, and devotion in academic life. The event successfully fulfilled its objective of nurturing respect for learning and cultural traditions among students.
