About This Event

The Centre of Excellence, School of Law, Gujarat University organized a One Day Seminar on “Aatmnirbhar & Self-Reliant Women: Shaping India’s Legal, Social and Economic Landscape” on 7th March 2026, celebrating International Women’s Day 2026 with great enthusiasm and dedication. The event aimed to highlight the importance of empowering women and encouraging their active participation in shaping a more inclusive and self-reliant society.

Inaugural Session

The seminar commenced with a formal inaugural ceremony, setting an inspiring tone for the day. The event was graced by eminent dignitaries whose presence added immense value to the celebration.

The distinguished guests present during the inaugural session were:

  • Ms. Suman Nala, IPS – Superintendent of Police, Technical Services, Gandhinagar
  • Dr. Vaishali Padhiar – Development Officer, Gujarat University
  • Prof. (Dr.) Prateek Kanchan – Director (I/c), School of Law, Gujarat University
  • Dr. Bhavesh H. Bharad – HOD, School of Law, Gujarat University and Coordinator, Centre of Excellence
  • Dr. Chetana Bhujad – Assistant Professor, School of Law, Gujarat University

The dignitaries addressed the gathering and shared insightful perspectives on women’s empowerment, leadership, and the importance of self-reliance in today’s socio-legal and economic landscape. Their motivating words encouraged students and participants to recognize the strength and potential of women in all spheres of life.

Panel Discussion

Following the inauguration, an engaging panel discussion was organized on the theme “Aatmanirbhar & Self-Reliant Women: Shaping India’s Legal, Social and Economic Landscape.”

The panel discussion brought together accomplished women from diverse professional fields who shared their experiences, challenges, and achievements. The discussion emphasized the evolving role of women in leadership and highlighted the need for confidence, resilience, and equal opportunities.

The panelists included:

  • Ms. Suman Nala, IPS – Superintendent of Police, Technical Services, Gandhinagar
  • Dr. Vaishali Padhiar – Development Officer, Gujarat University
  • Ms. Sapna Bipin Soni – Businesswoman and Owner of 6 Yards Journey

Self-Defence and Awareness Workshop

As part of the celebration, the Centre of Excellence also organized a Self-Defence and Awareness Workshop under the theme “From Self-Defence to Self-Reliance: आत्मनिर्भर नारी, सशक्त नारी.”

The workshop was conducted by:

  • Mr. Amandeep Singh Gotra – General Secretary, Thai Boxing Association Gujarat (Regd.)

The session focused on practical self-defence techniques, awareness about personal safety, and strategies for handling real-life situations. Through live demonstrations and interactive participation, students learned basic defensive moves and gained valuable knowledge about situational awareness and self-protection.

The workshop successfully instilled a sense of confidence, awareness, and empowerment, reinforcing the importance of being both mentally and physically prepared.

The International Women’s Day Celebration 2026 organized by the Centre of Excellence, School of Law, Gujarat University was a meaningful and inspiring event that celebrated the strength, achievements, and potential of women.
